Message from the Producing Artistic Director
Response to Increased Covid Cases
As a result of increased COVID cases throughout our region, new COVID protocols have been established for Sierra Repertory Theatre. Here is a message from Scott Viets, Producing Artistic Director:
The cast of Shrek The Musical has arrived and rehearsals are underway. The show will be spectacular! As we look toward our first preview performance on September 2nd, our number one goal is to keep our audience and actors safe. To meet that goal, we are following the requirements of Actors’ Equity Association for our performers and the recommendation of the Tuolumne County Public Health Department for our audiences. Our new COVID protocols mirror the actions of many professional performing arts organizations in California and across the country. The show must go on!
What Will Change
Beginning with the first preview performance of Shrek The Musical on September 2nd and continuing at both East Sonora and Fallon House Theatres until further notice, all audience members, regardless of their age, will be asked to do the following:
• Show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID test within the previous 72 hours when entering the theatre.
• Wear a mask at all times within the theatre building regardless of vaccination status – this includes the entire duration of performances.
In addition, our traditional “gatherings,” like opening night parties, will not take place until restrictions are lifted. Due to safety protocols, the Shrek company will not be signing autographs or holding meet-and-greets at the stage door.
Ticket Refunds or Changes
Maximum flexibility will be offered to all patrons who want to cancel or change their tickets. Patrons can do the following:
• Request a refund for the face value of the ticket.
• Request a change to a future performance of the same or a different show.
• Request a gift certificate in a value equal to the face value of the ticket.
• Donate the value of the ticket to SRT.
No exchange fees will be charged.

What won’t Change
As we announce these changes, we can promise that the quality of SRT productions will not change. Night after night, we promise to fill or stages with live performances from exceptionally talented actors – performing without masks – bringing joy to our hearts and to the community.
